My spouse won't use it for that reason. I think they must've manufactured it using recycled plastic, and that doesn't seem like a good idea for something that goes into your mouth. It tastes like old detergent bottles and, frankly, a bit like garbage. I have to rinse my mouth out a lot after using it. I liked that I could control the force of the water pressure. I used it for about 6 weeks then the unit that the tip attaches to began to leak at the seams. It was a small leak at first then the more I used it the worse it got with water spraying all over and no longer having pressure in the tip.
