So having heard recommendations of the Water-Pik, I eventually ordered it (the twin pack with Sensonic Toothbrush). All I can say is, I wish I'd got one of these years ago! It really does make oral hygiene easier and more thorough. I use it before brushing night and morning. It only takes a minute or so and I always fill the reservoir with fresh warm water as directed and use till its gone. It can be quite surprising to see just how many particles it removes from your teeth. The flow is variable and I only have it set at about a third of its potential. It has that whole "2 minute, four quadrant" thing popular with electrics these days, but lacks any of the silly gimmicks of the Braun like LCD timer displays, using only a short pause every 30 seconds to let you know when to move on to the next quadrant. In my opinion, the less things like that to break, the better.The cordless waterpik is perfectly functional and will floss the ever living hell out of your teeth and gums (I recommend using the low setting for a couple weeks at least) but it's not without annoying issues when compared to the countertop model: first thing you notice, it's LOUD, and in an echoey bathroom, it sounds like you're running a sawzall. Second, since you're holding the reservoir that must be fed from the bottom, the thing has to be held upright at all times, which makes it exceedingly difficult to get... Nevertheless, it's not a waste of time for potential customers and the manufacturer to understand that, there is a fundamental design flow in the reservoir attachement mechanism that's shared between these two models.)I've been using various countertop dental irragation units for 15+ years, so when I saw the cordless ones at Target I didn't hesitate for one second to give them a try. I purchased the 30-sec Waterpik cordless water flosser but quickly came to find out that it was difficult to put the reservoir and the power handle together. The new hell of buyer's remorse didn't stop there: while following the instruction manual (on page 11) to remove the reservoir from the power handle, nothing moved at all.
